Staying Relevant: How to Keep Consumers Engaged on Facebook

As a local business, having a Facebook page is a great way to get the word out about your business, share special offers, and provide quick customer service. Although it’s a great resource, it can be difficult to create conversations with consumers who might see your page as a place solely for information rather than engagement. If you want your business page to stay relevant, you’ve got to think outside the box when it comes to sharing information with consumers. Ditch the boring posting strategy and let consumers see you for more than an information page with these five Facebook engagement tips:

Post Again, & Again, & Again

The number one tip to staying relevant on Facebook is to be consistently active. And, if you want to keep up with Facebook’s forever-changing algorithm, posting consistently will not only prove to Facebook that you deserve a spot at the top of users’ timelines, but in return will give your posts the best chance to receive engagement. The more organic reach your Facebook posts receive, the better your social media visibility will be.

Make it Valuable

Like I mentioned before, your Facebook page is a great place to share promotional offers and sales, but advertisements aren’t the number one reason consumers are following your page. Offer something beneficial to your audience like information behind your company, the story behind the vendors you work with, or even a quick #FactOfTheDay that consumers might not get anywhere else. You’ve already built a brand for your business, but what good is that if you don’t build a community to back it up?

But Keep it Simple

Sharing quality content on a consistent basis doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, keeping it simple is the way to go. Mobile Facebook users spend an average of 1.7 seconds on a piece of content while desktop users spend an average of 2.5 seconds. Keep this in mind while creating your next Facebook post.

Just Ask

Instead of waiting for interaction that might never come, just ask for it. Asking questions is a great way to connect with consumers and clear up misconceptions or product and service questions before they make their way to you. Your business thrives on making connections and gaining customers, so asking for input through your Facebook page will only benefit your brand as a whole.

Get Visual

Want to get your Facebook posts noticed? Include Facebook-worthy images and videos. You know that saying “a picture is worth a thousand words?” That comes in handy when grabbing a consumer’s 1.7- second attention span as they’re scrolling through their timeline. Use consumer feedback to your advantage when creating visual content by turning frequently asked questions and top selling products into how-to videos and product reviews.

I know, there’s a lot to think about when it comes to staying relevant online, but Facebook is a place to gain loyal consumers, and staying consistent with your brand’s presence on the platform is worth it. If you’re not into the idea of doing this all yourself, we can help!
